We, the Kellyn Celtic Arts Irish Dance Academy teachers, dancers, and families, wish to extend our congratulations and thank yous to Grainne, Colleen, and the Damhsa School dancers and families, for their hospitality in hosting a superlative event, this year’s Gold Crown Championship. Our many thanks also to AAIDT President Kenn Brennan, for his adjudication of this competition. Our congratulations and best wishes as well to all the dancers who participated at the 2009 Gold Crown!
The venue, Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, was lovely and historic—the thought of all the feet that have trodden those New England boards over the years was both comforting, and uplifting. We were very pleased to be dancing in such a Hall! Everyone from the staff at our hotel to the vendors and families at this event seemed sincerely happy to have us there, and appreciated our traveling to participate.
Despite the initial butterflies and trepidation at the thought of competing in front of their peers for the very first time (this was their very first in-person feis, as it was for so many of the other dancers), our students were made to feel very welcome and accepted by the other dancers at the venue.
We appreciate the many many questions asked of our students and families about our school, our classes, our teacher, our curriculum, etc., and were very happy to share our experiences with them, and they in turn with us. We were, of course, “those dancers from Florida”!
This is what the dance should be about. The dancers and families from Damhsa, the Kelly School of Irish Dance, and Mulkerin School of Irish Dance, along with our dancers and families, enjoying the exhilaration of the dance together.
We at Kellyn Celtic Arts are committed to keeping the dance, it’s traditions, and history alive, helping to ensure the love of the dance will continue with the next generation. We have supported AAIDT and it’s ideals, and look forward to the future of the dance.
Yours Sincerely,
Jaime Knaub & Kimberly Kelly Knaub
