American Association of Irish Dance Teachers

Scores and Sets

The purpose of these numbers is to determine whether a competitor can move-up when there are less than 3 competitors per category. They are also used for a judge to calibrate their scores and to decide if a competitor has entered the appropriate level. They should NOT be used to decide entry levels per-feis. Only a win in a level qualifies you for the next level. These numbers can also be used by a judge to overrule a teacher or competitor who has advanced prematurely or needs to advance. Most importantly; your scores may not match the scores listed per-level. It is possible to enter and win at Novice while still having Adv. Beg averages. That is because each judge has a different idea of what an average dancer per-level looks like.
