Remote feis, also called Distance Feis, is designed to allow individual dancers and schools in remote locations to participate in post-adjudicated competitions.
Who is it for?
*Schools and AAIDT Clubs in remote locations who cannot easily travel to local Feiseanna.
*Schools and AAIDT Clubs who want to monitor student progress but can not attend regular competitions.
*Schools who need to "test the waters" or pre-qualify before committing to an expensive school trip.
*Schools and Clubs who are suffering from this economy like the rest of us and would enjoy an affordable alternative to the expenses of live feisanna.
There are 6 Seasonal Distance Feis seasons.
Jan-Feb.
Mar-Apr.
May-Jun.
Jul-Aug.
Sep-Oct.
Nov-Dec.
This year we will hold a Semi-Final Championship in Sep-Oct and a World Championship in Nov-Dec.
Rules:
(Also see general Feis rules) Participation is available only to registered members of AAIDT, WIDA and CRDM.
1.Group or solo competitors will perform the required dances in accordance with AAIDT policy on NTSC or DVD Region-1 media.
The material is then submitted to the remote Feis committee for adjudication. (VHS is not acceptable)
2. Competitors must perform the required dances for their skill- level. All required competitors must be filmed in a single day or as consecutively as possible. The feis must submitted on video tape or DVD. Edits between segments must be concise—no “down time”.
3. Competitors must wear Id cards around the waist with large numbers for easily identification on video. Numbers should start at 001. Feis facilitators must ensure that ID cards are easily visible on the recording or the video will l be rejected.
4. The camera angle must be directly in front of the dancer(s) and the camera adjusted to waist height and parallel to the horizon. The dancer(s) must begin each dance at exactly center frame. When dancing two by two, center frame should fall between each dancer.
5. The camera should be adjusted as close as possible while keeping the entire body in frame at all times so that the frame width captures the entire dance with little excess space. A test frame should just fit a traditional side step executed from the center frame to the right, and then from center frame to the left. This should represent the boundaries of your frame.
6. The School or Club must submit the completed recording along with properly completed registration forms and combined adjudication fees.
7. Upon receipt, the video will be reviewed by a licensed AAIDT adjudicator and scores will be forwarded back to the competitor or school.
8. All media becomes the property of AAIDT upon receipt. Videos will not be returned.
9. The Fee for Distance Feis is $25.00 per competitor for 1-3 dances per level. Feis seasons run two months. Registration and payment is due by mid-session. (The first of the second month in a season) See our EVENTS listings for Details and to RSVP.
